Drove downtown to meet you
How I look down to greet your visage
Flushed in emotions, never ending
This disease of life, ever spreading
It's much colder up here
Remember how you could see your breath in the wind
I'm sure you loved that
But I can't be to sure what you love anymore
This city is overflowing
With death, scum, disease
I miss this city with all my heart
Kept me from the nightmares in my head
I see images of death
I see everyone I love dead
It's much colder up here
Remember how you could see your breath in the wind
I'm sure you loved that
And the more people killed, this city within
The more I feel comfortable in my own skin
Those dead and forgotten
To care just as we do, breathe in this cold air
Let it chill your lungs
It feels good to just let go
Don't feel sorry for yourself
If I can't smash your face myself
Let the smoke do it instead
My condition is wasting me away
Grab your shoes, we're going home
I don't know where I don't know how
But wherever we decide to end up now
Let's make sure the air is uneasy
You don't want comfort, you don't want peace
Then leave this city, then leave my home
Fuck you anyway, you were never there
A spirit, ghost of the past, flicker of hope
This city is overflowing
With death, scum, disease
I miss this city with all my heart
Kept me from the nightmares in my head
Drove downtown to meet you
How I look down to greet your visage
Sickly in image, rotting inside
You took my life and my city away from me
Quite possibly the most full-on album I've ever listened to. Intense, and then some. 'Digital Tarpit' could describe both the track and the whole album: high-pitched guitar squeals that make your fillings itch coupled with merciless, suffocating heaviness. The Avenell-esque vocals top it off perfectly.
Brilliant - punishing, but brilliant. jim_fuego
